Sébastien Ogier ha vinto il Rally di Monte Carlo, prima tappa del WRC 2018, con la Ford Fiesta: quinta vittoria consecutiva nel Principato
Sébastien Ogier ha vinto con la Ford Fiesta – come da noi previsto – il Rally di Monte Carlo, prima tappa del WRC 2018: per il pilota francese si tratta del quinto successo consecutivo nel Principato.
Il cinque volte campione del mondo (tornato sul gradino più alto del podio dopo un digiuno lungo oltre otto mesi) ha superato le Toyota (Casa a sua volta tornata in “top 3” dopo sei mesi) di Ott Tänak e Jari-Matti Latvala.
Un Rally di Monte Carlo 2018 tutt’altro che memorabile per Thierry Neuville: si pianta in un cumulo di neve nella PS1 perdendo 4 minuti, fora nella PS3 (ovviamente non per colpa sua), decide di fare nuovamente le coccole alla neve nella PS11 e nonostante questo riesce a chiudere in quinta posizione e a portare a casa altri quattro punti bonus grazie alla seconda piazza nella Power Stage. Non certo il debutto migliore per il pilota belga e per la Hyundai, anche quest’anno – come nel 2017 (e poi sappiamo com’è andata a finire) – considerati i favoriti assoluti del WRC dagli addetti ai lavori.
Ott Tänak è stato l’unico in grado di tenere testa a Ogier in uno dei Rally di Monte Carlo più complicati di sempre e secondo noi sarà il solo a lottare con il driver francese per la conquista del WRC 2018. Velocissimo nelle prove speciali come Neuville ma, a differenza di quest’ultimo, più continuo.
Dopo un inizio scoppiettante Sébastien Ogier ha rischiato di buttare tutto all’aria nella PS7 finendo in un fosso. Riuscito a tornare in strada grazie all’aiuto degli spettatori ha adottato una strategia conservativa che gli ha consentito di dominare anche quest’anno il Rally di Monte Carlo.
Continua anche nel 2018 la maledizione che impedisce a Elfyn Evans di terminare il Rally di Monte Carlo in “top 5”. Stavolta è arrivato sesto dopo aver ceduto la quinta posizione nella Power Stage a Neuville.
Vittoria al Rally di Monte Carlo, quattordicesima gara consecutiva nel WRC con almeno una vettura sul podio, tre successi nelle ultime cinque corse iridate disputate e primo posto temporaneo nel Mondiale 2018 insieme a Toyota. Un grande debutto per la Ford Fiesta.
